ADAPTIVE
METROPOLIS

USER-GENERATED URBANISM

A cohort of citizens, designers, artists, activists, academics, entrepreneurs, government officials, and policymakers across the world are taking action to reinvent public space and reaffirm the 'right to the city'. They employ a series of disparate tactics, combining the limited available resources with a large dose of creativity. They favor small-scale, short-term interventions that involve experimentation and iteration, implementing them through participatory processes and community engagement while opensourcing tools, methodology, and results. Together, they are building the foundations for a usergenerated urbanism. The Adaptive Metropolis symposium will convene a global community of thinkers and doers to discuss the future of this model of city-making.
