More than 100 students, educators and civic leaders from 9 cities came together in Washington DC on May 18-10 to share their Y-PLAN community planning projects. Y-PLAN (Youth – Plan, Learn, Act, Now) is the Center for Cities + Schools educational model for engaging young people for project based learning.
At the national summit students presented projects ranging from “Defining a Healthy School to Build a Healthy Community” to “Mapping + Bridging the Digital Divide in D.C. Promise Neighborhoods.” HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan was the keynote speaker of the event. Y-PLAN engages the youth as critical agents of change for their community, and prepares students for college and beyond.
